Use the LINCS Vocabulary Strategy Organizer to help students improve their expressive and receptive semantic language skills. This vocabulary strategy is helpful for older elementary students and secondary students, and can be used to support academic reading and writing goals.
This sheet allows students to work on 4 target vocabulary words in depth.
Areas worked on include:
* Making semantic associations (e.g., synonyms, definitions)
* Formulating sentences using target words
* Understanding meaning in context
Note: The LINCS Vocabulary Strategy helps students learn the meaning of new vocabulary words using powerful memory-enhancement techniques. Strategy steps cue students to focus on critical elements of the concept; to use visual imagery, associations with prior knowledge, and key-word mnemonic devices to create a study card; and to study the card to enhance comprehension and recall of the concept.
