This 105 page packet for Middle School and High School English classes, LITERATURE LIVES! The Power of Perspective,is the third product in my writing about literature task card trilogy. The first one, Reading Analysis - Literature Task Cards
(Comprehension: Literature Task Cards), invites students to reinforce their understanding of the Elements of Literature: Character, Plot/Conflict, Setting, Theme, Symbols, Tone, and Point of View. The second offering, Literature Task Cards: Nurture S.M.A.R.T.E.R Thinking-52 TASK CARDS, (Literature Task Cards:Nurture S.M.A.R.T.E.R Thinking-52 TASK CARDS ), encourages students to strengthen their critical thinking skills while using verbs from the six categories composing Bloom's Taxonomy as they write about literature.

This final packet, Literature Lives! The Power of Perspective, empowers students to advance their writing skills with 25 Short Writing Responses and 25 Long Writing Responses. The variety of topics tweaks their interest because each one asks them to express their personal perspectives and then support them with textual material from their literature studies. They reinforce their understanding of the Elements of Literature and their higher level thinking skills as they strengthen their confidence in their thinking by logically and creatively developing their own opinions.

Instead of creating a list for the 25 Short Writing Responses and 25 Long Writing Responses, and usual task cards, in this product each topic is written on a full sheet of paper revealing the required format. For the Short Writing Responses, students write a 1-3 sentence Situation Summary, followed by a ten sentences analysis composed of: a Hook, an Overview Statement, a Thesis Statement, Main Idea 1, Supporting Detail 1, Main Idea 2, Supporting Detail 2, Main Idea 3, Supporting Detail 3 and a Concluding Statement.
For the Long Writing Responses, students expand the shorter writing format into a complete essay. They are required to include a/an

As many MAIN IDEAS as you need, along with sufficient SUPPORTING DETAILS to fully prove and support your THESIS STATEMENT."
