This file contains 3 lessons on Key Note for iPad. They are my lessons for the Fountas and Pinnell Leveled Literacy Intervention program…the BLUE kit. They only contain level J books. Once you download the zip file, you will see 3 separate Key Note files. These are perfect for a small group with an iPad.

This is how I created my lessons:
I did not create every lesson from this level. I only teach the books that are on that actual level. For example, if I am working with a group of students that are reading on a Fountas and Pinnell level K, I will only teach the level L lessons that use a level L book (none of the lower level ones) and I chose the 3 that I feel are important. Each of the 3 lesson plans for this lesson last for at least three days. Here is how I teach the information over the three days:
Day 1: I introduce the phonics and do a lot of work in this area. Then I introduce the book and begin reading it. This day has a lot of guided support.
Day 2: I continue the phonics skill. I do not spend as much time on phonics as I do the previous day. Then I do guided reading with the text. If there is time, we begin the writing portion. The students have a little less support than they do the previous day.
Day 3: I teach the guided reading lesson with the same text and then complete the writing portion. The Writing About Reading portion is differentiated with a high, medium, and low activity. Students are grouped into a particular leveled writing activity depending on their progress through the text on the previous days. On this day, I try to give the students the least amount of support and make it as much as a “student-led” activity as possible.

I also group several similar lessons from the guide and incorporate them into only one of my lessons plans. For example, one of my lesson plans may contain a phonics skill from lessons 24 and 25 in the guide, a guided reading lesson from lesson 25 in the guide, and a writing lesson from lesson 26 in the guide. I looked at all of the skills as a whole and grouped each of the lessons in the guide accordingly to flow a little better.
