I have always been fascinated by the Creole culture here in Louisiana. Creole simply means "mainly of French, Spanish, Native American or African heritage and/or a mixture of these heritages". Being married to a French wife name Du'on, we have traced her heritage back to the Great Deportation of '55 or The Expulsion of the Acadians from Acadia in 1755.
As I became a Louisiana history teacher I became obsessed with genealogy and really started research on her family. Later I transferred to an all-black middle school and really became ever more obsessed. Over the years I learned from and taught several Creoles making me even more obsessed about the culture.
My principal was a fair-skinned Mulatto making this old white guy even more obsessed. Over the years of teaching I learn much more about the Creoles in Louisiana which lead to this set of bell ringers.
I have read many website, books, and articles about Louisiana Creoles and tried to distill the information I have used here as much as possible. I even have learned a little bit more about the Creole food, tomatoes for instance.
There are 51 questions in this set. These were much more work for my students but they enjoyed them just the same. They just never knew what was coming next.
