Purpose: To review concepts related to Culture, Families, and Festivals.
Directions: Print enough copies of the Bingo board for each student in your class. Ask students to look at the list of terms, names and events at the bottom of the board. Next, ask students to fill in each box with a term, name or event. Each item can only be used once! They can place their selections in any box. The goal is for each student to have a different board. Please notice that there are 42 choices and only 25 Bingo boxes. This is to ensure that all boards are different. Finally, tell students the pattern needed in order to win the game. (5 across, 5 down, diagonal, etc.)
Teaching Tip: You will only ask one question from each category. You can ask the questions in any order that you choose! After asking a question, give students time to make their choice. You can choose to reveal the correct answer before moving on or wait until someone yells “LaBingo”. Once a student bingos they will receive FOUR bonus points. The game will continue with the next winner getting THREE bonus, then next gets TWO, and last gets ONE or however you chose to do the game.
Marking the board: Over the years I have had students mark their board first in black ink then I initial the upper corner box, then as we play they mark their answers in a COLORED marker – easy to see and very easy to check.
When calling from the list I will start from the top in one class, the bottom in the next class, and in the middle in the next, just so they have no clue as to where I am going.
