As my student's and I always have 'talked' my Hot Sauce collection that I have in my classroom. Here is an 'art' project that lets them be very creative and very 'Louisiana' in coming up with a local Hot Sauce idea that might make it if featured in a local market – Wal*Mart, Market Basket, Kroger's, Winn-Dixie, Piggly Wiggly, etc. This project allows students to design "labels" for their own invention or concoction, either theirs or a member of their family.
I have been 'collecting' for more than 20 year. Everywhere I have travel around the state. It does not matter if it is a truck stop or plantation or a dollar store. If they have a different "Louisiana made" hot sauce I buy two – one to try and one to add to my collection.
My student's know that I am an avid collector by all of mind MUST be from and made in Louisiana or I won't collect them.
I figure this is a great way to get students thinking about what would be a great local Hot Sauce and I have plenty to show them.
It also makes them think of really cool and catchy names.
Have fun with this project, my students always have.
