This "icebreaker" was part of my two summers spent with the Louisiana Voices teacher institute. I have used this "breaker" as a way to start my class very early in the year and had students initial one square for each student. The trick is to see who gets the most filled up before time runs out. Then I ask a question of each student about what they have initialed on.
I have done "most" of the things on the sheet but not all so I can sign most of the sheets - which is one way many students lose out - because they forgot to ask me.
