This document contains vocabulary lists, mini-lessons on grammatical structures, and pre/during/post reading and discussion questions for chapters 1-15 of La Calaca Alegre. I've updated the zip file to include an editable copy, a PDF copy, and a complete answer key for all parts.
I've loved using these detailed vocabulary sets and grammar introductions in class alongside the novel, especially in the first 3-4 class periods of reading the novel. I ask students to "take note" of the grammatical structures and vocabulary as they see them throughout the novel, and then we hypothesize about the corresponding key term or grammar structure. It's a great way for students to realize that they actually already know how to use context clues to discover the meaning of new words and use contextual information to make assumptions about new grammatical structure.
