This a fun and engaging project for Spanish 1 students studying family vocabulary. The objective is to have students map out their family trees and include titles, relations and birthdays.
A student works through thinking about unit vocabulary (family). He/she then researches information about each family member. Answers questions about his/her family. Finally, after collecting information, the student then creates a final draft of his/her family tree.
In this project, students get practice writing titles (Señor, Señorita, Señora), writing relations (Mi padre, Mi madre) and writing out birth dates in Spanish (Es el 20 de octubre). A rubric with clear project expectations is also included. This is a great way for classes to get to know each other and a great way for a student to present something that interests them!
