This is a Powerpoint story in Spanish using past tense and level 1 "items in the classroom" vocabulary. Although it's early on in the year for the past tense, I find that introducing it into their reading does not hinder their comprehension of the story, yet enhances their ability to decipher meaning when presented with unknown material. My students also easily picked up the formation of some past tenses as well!
The story is about a princess that loves everything about reading, learning and studying. She wants to make her own classroom for the children of the kingdom, but her father ruins her plans by asking her to marry a prince. She makes up a plan of her own to prevent this from happening but realizes she may be able to have both her desires in the end.
I use TPRS methods with this story by questioning my students as to what is taking place in the story using circling techniques. I also give a multiple choice quiz to check for comprehension.
The quiz is available for purchase on my site as well.
