Need a quick, fun Valentine's Day activity that can break through the students' sugar highs, but maintains a focus on French and culture? Look no further...la voilà!
This download includes two entertaining Valentine's themed activities that my students love! The first activity is a LOTTO game that goes along with an Orange (cell phone company) pan-African ad campaign video...you can preview the video here: https://youtu.be/B0-bkJ8eRWY. In the activity, students will try to check off all the terms of endearment they hear in the commercial. (You'll also find a downloaded copy of the video in the zip file...just in case it ever disappears from YouTube!)
The second activity asks students to match some of the goofier French terms of endearment with images to illustrate their literal meaning. Picture "ma puce en sucre" matched with a cute little flea, "mon choux" matched up with a cabbage, etc. As you check students' answers, you can discuss which terms you've heard people use and which ones are the silliest.
If you'd like to keep the fun going, a natural follow-up activity would be to have students use their favorite term of endearment to send a friend a Valentine :) Enjoy!
