Handout is for the vignette "Marín". Part one has 40 fill in the blanks with the Present tense. Part 2 contains 10 reading comprehension questions.
I also use this vignette as an addition to my Beauty and Aesthetics unit. Great vignette for students to discuss what it means to them to be beautiful. In this vignette, Marin sells Avon products and talks about how one must look good in order to get the best jobs.
Students break into groups to discuss what make a person beautiful and what is really needed in our society in order to get the best jobs (Brains vs Beauty). I also use this teachable moment to teach them a Spanish saying "la suerte de la fea la bonita la desea."
I'm always amazed at how insightful students can be at such a young age. I usually give the students an entire class period to discuss the topic in groups of three and then share their discussions with the class. Great way to keep them talking in the target language and make it a meaningful experience.
