Handout in Spanish to help students realize that the story "La noche boca arriba" written by Julio Cortázar.
The author uses many of the five senses; visual (references to the light), smells (smell of war, smell of the jungle, etc), audio (sounds) and touch. Students work with a partner to re-read the story and look for sentences in the story that make connections to the five senses.
This story is an excellent example of magical realism. Story is recommended for advanced Spanish learners or native speakers. Great way to make connections to the Aztecs (Guerra Florida).
