Handout is a matching activity to review vocabulary for the short story "La rama seca". I like to pre-teach vocabulary first prior to reading the story with the class. I usually ask for volunteers to read aloud to the class. After reading aloud students break into smaller groups to re-read the story and discuss elements in the story.
As a follow up, I have students re-read again for H.W and write reading comprehension questions for the next day. Reading and writing are interrelated and the H.W assignment provides practice for both. The next day students play toss ball and answer the questions written by their peers. Nice activity to engage all students.
As a grammar review I have them work with a partner to fill in the blanks with the Preterit or Imperfect. Can be done in class or assigned for H.W. Nice way to review the story and grammar as well:
The appropriate level would be Intermediate Low to High (Spanish Honors, Spanish AP and Spanish for native/heritage speakers.
