Consisting of 18 Conexiones, each with 5 lessons, the VIF Spanish Language Arts course emphasizes reading, writing and speaking in the target language through the investigation of current global issues and by focusing on developing vocabulary and teaching specific Spanish grammar rules.
Our middle school Global Gateway curriculum is designed to provide you and your students with essential attitudes, skills and knowledge for global citizenship, while exploring the complexity of current global issues. Through embedded social entrepreneurship principles, it promotes an understanding of the student as an active participant in the world, with an important role and crucial responsibilities.
The curriculum is aligned to the Common Core Standards, P21 Standards - 21st Century Skills, National Educational Technology Standards, and Career Technical Education Standards and organized in the following six main themes: Global Society, Global Geography, Global Environment, Global Education, Global Economy, Global Politics.
"La salud" is one of three in a Global Environment unit. Students will investigate global environmental challenges, including population growth and world health issues, and solutions. At the same time, students will relate these concepts to their entrepreneurship region of study. Protecting the environment involves political, economic and social responses that influence the daily life of the global population. Students will study grammar concepts including: adjectives of degree, comparisons, reflexive verbs, SABER vs. CONOCER, indefinite and negative words, and prepositions.
1) How is our world’s global health?
2) What are the effects of epidemics and pandemics?
3) How can I talk about significant world health problems using the verbs SABER and CONOCER?
