La viuda de Montiel written by Gabriel García Márquez is a great story to make connections to Social Studies since it takes place during "El Bogotazo" and "La Violencia" an era in Colombia's history.

I recently did a professional workshop at my district and used this bundle to model how to use short stories to make connections to history, analyze a story, build vocabulary, and review grammar. All in the target language! It was a hit. My supervisor was impressed.
