This lab goes with the Unit 2-Organizing Matter
In this lab students will be tasked with evaluating a mixed sample and designing and executing a lab to separate the four components of that mixture. Depending on class length, research, planning, and experimentation could be one 2 hour class period, or spread over 2 days of shorter class times.
This lab gives students practice with designing procedures, as well as evaluating matter and its properties, and then designing experimentation based on those properties.
This lab also includes a teacher page on what to use in the sample mixture, and common ways for it to be separated.
