This lab requires the following materials:
density cubes made of various materials, ruler, triple beam balance, and calculator.
Students measure the mass and volume of the various cubes of different materials to calculate their density. Then they compare their calculations to a list of given densities for the various materials in order to accurately identify their cubes.
I use this lab to give students more practice measuring and calculating density.
