Description
This Lab contains both the lab (with answer key) as well as a powerpoint recap of the lab and what the students should have learned. The lab was designed to help students understand that temperature stays the same during phase change (a very difficult concept for many students to grasp!). In this lab they will be comparing the change in temperature for boiling water to that of freezing water. They will be filling in a data table as well as graphing their data and answering a few analysis questions. This is a fantastic way to give your students hands-on experience as well as practice with important math skills in science. I have used this in my middle school science classes as well as my high school science classes and have found that the students were equally engaged in both. For high school, I would not use this lab for Juniors or Seniors unless the class is at a lower level in terms of their scientific understanding and they need some review. I hope that your students enjoy this lab as mine as mine do!
Activity includes:
- Teacher instructions & tips
- Open-ended lab sheet
- Images of lab in action
- Powerpoint that explains theĀ
- main concepts of the lab
