Students will "explode" over this one-page lab . Using simple materials, readily accessible in all middle school chemistry laboratory rooms, students will observe some properties of the gas hydrogen. This lab requires very little set for the teacher. Materials required for this lab are magnesium ribbon, test tube, white vinegar, large stopper, wood splint, matches, safety goggles, sand paper, 10 mL graduated cylinder, and test tube clamp.
