This lab or activity guides the student through "crowd-sourced science" through the Zooniverse suite of internet sites. Using data from the STEREO solar telescopes, the student will attempt to predict when coronal mass ejections might reach Earth. First the student is quizzed on the background material available at the site. The student compares the current space weather and solar activity as reported by NASA with archival STEREO observations. Some simple calculations (distance=rate times time) allow comparison.
