With this lab activity, students will first use the Power Point to start their 'lab write-up'. When the written portion of their lab is complete, they will break into pairs or individually, build their spool racer and observe how the device works (kinetic and potential energy) while measuring and recording distance and time to calculate speed.
The Power Point and write-up encourages students to better understand the scientific method and prepare for future grade levels in which writing up a lab is expected.
Required materials: Wooden Spools (@craft stores), pencils, paper clips, washers, and rubber bands
INCLUDED: Completed Speed Triangle!
