: Would you like to discuss some vocabulary related to Labor Day in the United States? Possibly you are looking to find an activity to use the Friday before Labor Day or the Tuesday kids return. If so, your students will enjoy this fun "Labor Day" word search!! If your students are like mine, they love these.
In this Labor Day themed puzzle, words are found forward, backward, up, down, and diagonal. I would consider it on the challenging side since students are looking for words in all directions.
A few of the words deal with the history of Labor Day and may need further discussion, such as strikes, low wages, and long hours of factory workers.
I use word searches to introduce vocabulary, or even just give it as morning work. They are also great to glue in writing notebooks for future writing topics. Perfect for a sub, too. Have your students further explain some of the key terms in a writing activity during social studies. Maybe they could illustrate a few. Use it as a guide to have them share what they have learned about Independence Day. How about homework or even to trigger their memory before state testing or a unit test. Use this Labor Day word search however you would like in your classroom.
