This PDF lesson is a great way for elementary music students to practice and reinforce their knowledge of tone set "mi-sol-la." Activities in this lesson include a heartbeat tapping chart with cute bird picture icons, a rhythm icon tapping chart with birds as the rhythm icons, a rhythm dictation where the rhythm to the song is on top of the heartbeat picture icons using real rhythm notation icons, a reading "mi-sol-la' in various places on a 3 line/2 space staff exercise, and finally reading/singing the song in it's entirety on a full staff in two different notation forms (1 with cute bird picture icons as note heads and 1 with real rhythm notation icons as note heads). This lesson is appropriate for students in grades 1-3.
