Get up close and personal with ladybugs! I combined my love of photography and teaching and created this fabulous close reading nonfiction unit to use in my classroom. Students will love learning about ladybug life cycle, predators, prey, defense mechanisms, and other fun facts while looking at them up close and personal!
The text cards include full color photographs along with leveled text for readers of different abilities. I currently use these in a first grade classroom, but they may be suitable for other grades as well.
This ladybug nonfiction unit includes:
- leveled text cards (low, medium, and high) with 10 cards for each level
- a reading passage, graphic organizers (have, can, are; facts and details; main idea and details)
- writing paper
- text dependent questions
- true/false sort
- predator/prey sort
- two different life cycle pages (one for drawing and one for cut/paste)
- crossword puzzle
- ladybug diagrams
- a ladybug shaped book in which students may write ladybug facts and complete a life cycle
