Description
Print the pages. You can make copies of each worksheet or laminate for continued use. For long term use, print, cut, laminate, and cut again. You can add magnets for use on a white board or cookie sheet. Instead you could add Velcro for use on a felt board or storytelling glove. My students enjoyed laminated file folder activities for each thematic unit and I could use them for multiple years. Dry erase markers are easy to clean up from laminated pages. Students could also use Wiki Stix or Play Dough to indicate their answers (incorporates fine motor skills). For the laminated letter “L l” pages students can trace with a dry erase marker, use Wiki Stix or Play Dough to outline the letter. Cutting paper is another important part of primary education skills.
Laminate the number pages and have students place the appropriate amount of bugs into each section to promote one to one correspondence. You can also ask students to demonstrate one to one correspondence by counting a teacher provided set.
Then have students compare who has more or less in their set.
Try to make up word problems for basic math (7 ladybugs sitting on a leaf, two flew away…)
It takes a while for new teachers to build a collection of hands-on activities, but when you laminate materials they will last for multiple years. Check out my other units and let me know if you need any specific units created just like these. enJOY!
