Description

Find the ladybug rhyming pairs! Practicing rhymes is fun with this hands-on rhyming activity with a ladybug or insects theme.   This simple rhyming game is perfect for ELA or literacy centers in preschool, prek, kindergarten, SPED, and RTI.

Contents:
20 leaf mats: Each mat includes a picture of a ladybug featuring an image.  The images are mostly CVC words and easy to rhyme.  4 mats are provided for each middle vowel.  Only short vowels are used.
20 ladybug cards:Each ladybug card features an image that rhymes with only one leaf mat.

How to play:
This activity is best suited for children who have already been introduced to the concept of rhyming and can identify rhymes in songs and stories. This rhyming printable is great as an individual activity or a group activity. To play:

1. Line up the leaf mats and name the picture on the ladybug.
2. Place the individual ladybug cards in a stack.
3. Pick up a ladybug card and name the picture.
4. Look for the rhyming leaf mat and place the ladybug card on it.
IMPORTANT: Be sure to name the images with your students to ensure they have the vocabulary to do this activity. They may not recognize the image if you don’t name it.

I have used mostly easy CVC words for these cards so that the rhymes are simple. This printable includes 4 rhyming pairs for each short vowel.
