Land and water is all around us. Students will learn about different landforms and bodies of water in these two sorting activities.
First, I have provided 24 color pictures of different landforms and bodies of water. You can choose the ones you want to discuss with your students. I suggest sorting these as a large group, then putting them in a work station for independent practice. I have provided headings for ease of sorting.
Second, I have included an independent sorting worksheet, using some of the basic pictures from the group sort game. Students cut and paste the pictures on their paper in the correct box, either landforms or bodies of water.
These are the color pictures I have used in the whole group sort:
Landforms: plain, hill, mountain, valley, volcano, cliff, butte, canyon, mesa, plateau, island, sand dunes
Bodies of Water: ocean, lake, river, pond, delta, gulf, isthmus, peninsula, canal, oasis, waterfall, beach.
These are the pictures I have used in the printable worksheet:
river, valley, hill, ocean, waterfall, mountain, lake, island, volcano, plain.
Here are other sorting games:

Living and Nonliving Sort
