This unit was created to bring in active learning where kids can use materials and their creative thinking to bring to life a landform that they are interested in. This unit would work great as an inquiry project as students can choose what landform they are interested in learning more about. I tied-in a new theme of "Climate Refugees" where people are having to flee their native homes due to climate change and their 'landform' is no longer able to sustain them there. "Humans and the Environment" is another appropriate tie-in to the unit of Landforms and I've brought in a book to exemplify this theme. My students had a lot of fun and a lot of hands-on learning was nurtured. I can't wait to see what your students do! A great unit for project-based learning.
We ended with a “conference” or “museum” where we invited other classes.
(Aligns well with BC's Revised Curriculum.)
