A fun, easy to play game for practicing calculating landmarks (mean, median, mode, and range) and justifying the best average. With little set up needed from the teacher, students only need two dice and the cards and are ready to play!
Great for use as a station, partner activity, early finisher, or practice activity.
Students roll the dice to determine how many number cards to draw. Students calculate mean, median, mode, and range of the data set they have just created and conclude their turn by justifying which of those landmarks would serve as the best average for the data set.
The game has various uses whether you structure it into small group stations, an early finisher activity, or use it as an independent or practice activity. It can be easily differentiated - have students roll only 1 dice, have students find only one of the landmarks to practice those skills independently, have students approximate the landmarks before calculating, etc.
