This product includes the words from the poem, I Dream a World by Langston Hughes, and the song Imagine by John Lennon.
Activity 1: Interpretation of Text (Close Read) (Graphic Organizer)
The students engage in close reading methods for both texts.
Activity 2: Accountable Talk Communication
The students are then given higher order question, and discussion prompts that will allow them to communicate and justify
their assertions or inferences.
Activity 3 Reflection (Graphic Organizer)
The pupils are then asked to use one sentence to summarize the overall dream or each artist.
Activity 4: Writing
The students then utilized their information from the graphic organizers and constructed a comparison/contrast Brief Constructed Response on how the artist dreamed of a better world.
** Educator Tip:** You can make the study unit more exciting by including an oral reading of the poem and the playing of the song.
