Have you ever gotten to the end of the year (or unit) and asked yourself: Did I teach every standard? Did I teach one standard too much and not enough of another? This easy-to-use checklist system allows you to do the following:
1) Track which standards you address in your lesson: Reading, Writing, Language, and Speaking/Listening;
2) Track the specific standards within the broader standards: Reading 1, Writing 3, etc);
3) Keep track of the dates you taught the standard; and
4) Keep track of the percentage of students that achieved the standard (so you can either re-teach the class, re-visit with individual students, or move on).
You can quickly glance at my checklist and see that I did a lot of work on central idea and inference but not enough on analyzing the structure of a text.
