Many school districts now require students to create two content-based technology projects in their core classes to demonstrate mastery of 21st Century Skills, as well as their understanding of the course material.
This project utilizes the popular comic creator website, ToonDoo, to have students recreate conflict from their SSR books into comic form. The project is written to take one week (lesson plan and objectives included), but it can be stretched up to two weeks, if necessary. This project works well with Reader's Workshop model classes. This project is aligned to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKs) for 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th grades. A Common Core State Standards (CCSS) version of this project will be available soon.
When the new TEKs for ELAR are finalized by TEA, a free addendum will be posted with the new alignments detailed.
