This zip file includes 13 different sets of self-checking QR Code Task Cards that target 2nd/3rd grade language arts skills. I created these when I taught 2nd grade but used them as review when I looped up to 3rd. Students use a SMART device that has a QR scanner to check their answers. 1. Dictionary Skills
This is a set of 16 task cards that are self-checking with QR Codes. The dictionary skills that are covered include: entry words, guide words, different definitions and syllables.
2. Affixes (Prefixes, Root Words and Suffixes)
This is a set of 20 QR Code task cards that practice identifying prefixes, suffixes and root words.
This is a set of 24 different QR Code task cards that practice context clues. Students have to use the clues in the sentence to figure out the missing word.
4. Guide Words
This is a set of 18 task cards to practice using guide words. The cards are in the shape of a video game controller. Each controller contains a question and a QR code.
5. Synonyms and Antonyms
This is a set of 24 different QR Code task cards that work with identifying synonyms and antonyms. These task cards use vocabulary words that often pop up on state tests. This will definitely be a great review activity for your class!
6. Singular and Plural Possessives
This is a set of 24 different QR Code task cards that work with identifying singular vs. plural possessives.
7. Listening Comprehension
This is a set of 14 different listening comprehension cards. GREAT for SLPs to use as a fun, interactive activity with their students. Each card has a few sentences about a given topic. The back of the card has one comprehension question with a QR code to scan for the answer.
This is a set of 24 QR Code task cards that work with contractions. Students have to be able to form a contraction when given two words. They also have to be able to break a contraction into the two words that make it up.
This is a set of 24 different QR Code task cards that work with syllables. 12 cards ask students to identify how many syllables are in the given word. Pictures are included to help with word identification. The other 12 task cards ask students to break a given word into its syllables by using dashes. This is a great technique to help with phonemic awareness and spelling.
10. Wild About GRAMMAR
This is a set of 20 different QR Code Self Checking Task Cards about various grammar skills: parts of speech, homophones, Me vs. I, subject/verb agreement, verb tenses, conjunctions and articles.
11. Short Vowels vs. Long Vowels
This is a set of 24 long vs. short vowel task cards. Students have to determine if the word with the matching picture has a long or short vowel. The long vowels follow the vowel-consonant-e pattern.
12. Unscramble Simple Sentences (for struggling students)
This is a set of 20 task cards that ask students to unscramble simple sentences. Have your students write the sentence in the correct order on a piece of paper or white board and have them check their own work by scanning the QR code with a QR Reader app
13. Compound Words
This is a set of 20 different task cards that practice compound words. It is a fun guessing game! Students have to look at two images that they "add" together to form a compound word. A recording sheet is included! Each card is self-checking with a QR code. Use any device with a QR scanner to reveal the correct answer. Fun and engaging way to learn! You can still use these cards even if you don't have devices that scan QR codes. An answer key is included!
Recording Sheets INCLUDED!
Not all of the task cards have recording sheets included. I would have my students write their answers down in a notebook to save paper. For those of you who like to use a recording sheets, this file is for you! This is a set of 5 different recording sheets that you can use with task cards or any other activity in your classroom!
