Materials: Background Scene(s) & Cut-Outs or Box Images of
Lesson: Have students take turns placing Cut-Outs in a variety
of places to create a scene. Use the Student Directions page
we have included or make up your own directions.
Materials: Fully illustrated School Scenes
Lesson: Display all the scenes that apply to your students’
school day. Have them place the scenes in sequential order
for the progression of their school day, then have them discuss
their daily schedule using terms such as ‘first’, ‘next’, ‘then’,
‘after that’, ‘last’.
VOCABULARY DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITY
Materials: Vocabulary Development Clue Cards and Cut-Outs
Lesson Option 1 … Spread a selection of the Cut-Outs on the
table, read aloud a Vocabulary Development Clue card, and
have students find and label the item described.
Lesson Option 2 … Read aloud a Vocabulary Development
Clue card and have the students name the described item
given no visual cue.
SCHOOL SCENES QUESTIONS
Materials: School Scenes and School Scenes Questions page
Lesson: Place the School Scenes in view of all students.
Read aloud questions from the School Scenes Questions page
allowing students to take turns answering.
SORT & SAY CATEGORIZATION
Materials: Sort & Say Mat and Cut-Outs from the categories
playground equipment, classroom furniture, and school
Lesson: Mix the Cut-Outs together in a container. Remove
Cut-Outs from the container one at a time and have students
take turns labeling the items then placing the images in the
correct box on the Sort & Say mat.
WHO – WHERE – WHAT – WHEN - AT SCHOOL, SING-ALONG
Materials: Who – Where – What – When - At School, Sing-
Along page and the School Scenes
Lesson: Place the School Scenes in view of all students. Sing
one verse of the Sing-Along and choose students to
answer the Who, Where, What, and When questions about the
verse. Continue until all song verses have been completed.

respond to a variety of location commands frequently given

Lesson: These worksheets are designed to teach common
preschool vocabulary concepts. Provide each student a
copy of the worksheet(s). Read aloud the questions and have
students choose the correct picture responses. Students may
circle or color the correct image.
LET’S COUNT TO TEN
Materials: 1 Full color, or individual blackline, Let’s Count to
ten, Ten Little Students at School – Sing-Along page(s)
Lesson: Sing the Ten Little Students at School song. Have
students count the students, then tell what each student is
doing, or find the student you describe using action words. If
using the blackline pages, student may color the students s as
they count, label, or find them.
