These visuals were created to teach the language surrounding many of the vocabulary tasks we engage students in on a daily basis. One thing I have learned in my years of teaching is that we can not assume that students know the language in order to be successful to complete tasks. It is my goal in therapy to break down that language and teach the “How to” so students are successful. The visuals align with Gail Richards Language Processing Hierarchy of vocabulary development. They teach the necessary concepts and language surrounding each domain.
Since it is difficult to break down all the language surround concepts and describing. I have included a graphic organizer on page 4 that I use to teach those concepts.
