LANGUAGE PROCESSING WITH NOUNS (LABELS TO QUESTIONS) is a comprehensive language processing packet.

The following items/tasks are included in the packet.

1. Level 1 – Instructional Definitions and Discussion cards – 106 cards. Use these cards to teach definitions of common noun vocabulary. These cards include a child friendly definition and a follow-up discussion question to help the students relate the noun vocabulary to their own lives.

2. Level 2 – Cloze Sentences, Part/Whole Relations, and Associations – 106 cards. Use these cards to teach/assess the ability to recall noun vocabulary for use in a fill-in-the-blank definition. These cards also include a follow-up task for teaching/assessing comprehension of part/whole relations and/or making associations. In the follow-up task the student is asked to name parts of the target noun or name items associated with the target noun.

3. Level 3 – Cloze Sentences and Restating Definitions – 106 cards. Use these cards to teach/assess the ability to recall and fill-in-the-blank with essential information to complete a definition. These cards also include a follow-up task in which the student is asked to restate a definition or provide as many details as possible about the target noun.

4. Level 4 – Compare and Contrast – 40 cards. Use these cards to teach/assess the ability to compare and contrast 80 target nouns.

5. Level 5 – Formulating Questions – 106 cards. In this task the students will formulate questions given pictures with diminishing levels of verbal cues.
Included are:
 20 cards that include a picture, a verbal cue, and the first three words for formulating an appropriate question.
 20 cards that include a picture, a verbal cue, and the first two words for formulating an appropriate question.
 20 cards that include a picture, a verbal cue, and only the first word needed for formulating an appropriate question.
 20 cards that provide a noun in context with a follow-up request that the student formulate a question related to the context/sentence.
 26 cards that show only a picture with the instruction, Ask me a question about a (target noun).
