This language support plan is meant to assist English learners in understanding and taking accountability for their own learning and to also help regular classroom teachers accommodate the needs of their English learners.
It includes a section of the legal requirements regarding accommodations, a section for score information and score plotting, assessment accommodations, and goal setting. Each goal setting box contains one space for teacher comments and two spaces for student comments. These goals can be completed at the beginning of the year all at one time or they can be added onto throughout the year. By circling the domains of the weakest and strongest scores, it helps to bring more awareness of the student’s strengths and weaknesses to both the student and the classroom teacher.
The student’s LEP classification is coded according to your state’s or school system’s coding requirements. In my state (Tennessee), we use L for English learner, W for a student who has had direct services waived by the parent(s), T1 for a first year transitional English learner and T2 for a second year transitional English learner.
The scores and goals page accompanies the accommodations charts for listening, speaking, reading and writing to create an individualized plan of learning for each English learner. To use the accommodations charts, you should circle the area in each domain to reflect the student’s scores in each area.
