Teaching professions and providing vocabulary practice is a common task in a Spanish II classroom. This packet includes a list of 60 words and phrases related to professions (both feminine and masculine forms), a 2 page reading activity with comprehension questions, and a 5 question info gap communicative speaking activity.
1. Vocabulary: The vocabulary list can be taught all in one day, can be left as sub-work for students to find the words in their textbook or dictionary, or can be taught in groups or categories over a few days.
2. Reading activity: The story is written in six sections to provide practice with a variety of vocabulary from the unit. I make it a part of the daily warm-up, with students working with a partner to read one section per day for six days. This keeps vocabulary fresh on their minds for each day of the unit.
3. Info-Gap: This activity is a simple communicative speaking exercise for students to practice the vocabulary from the unit. They each have a set of pictures and a set of questions to ask a partner.
