PPT in PDF format for vocabulary (pets).
If time allows, drive through several yard sales and pick up several small stuffed toys or beanie babies. I was able to purchase an entire bag of them for only $3! Prior to using in class, I gently washed them, rinsed well and aired dried them.
When teaching the pet vocabulary, I pull out a stuff toy from the bag and say the word in Spanish. Then I pass it to the student seated at the front row. He/she will say the word in Spanish and pass it to the next student until the stuff animal reaches the last student seated in the last row. Students love this activity.
To further enhance the lesson I also review colors. So I would say "Gato color pardo" or "Gato color blanco". I also quickly review numbers. For example "Tengo dos gatos".
If you have a well behaved class, then you can have the students sit on the floor in a circle. I find that it works best this way but depends on the class. For many of my classes, "circle time" works the best.
