This PowerPoint is designed to introduce the concepts of lateral and total surface area as applied to cylinders. A brief amount of time is used to review key terms such as radius and parallel through illustrations. The majority of the presentation is used to go through the formulas for lateral and total surface area, explaining through an example how, for example, the total surface area formula "builds" on the lateral surface area formula. While there are illustrations provided, some slides are text only so as to allow the teacher to use the right side for his/her own notes and illustrations using a SMART board or similar device, if desired. Please be sure to check out the free preview. Thank you for your interest in this PowerPoint by Nathan Haude!
