Students review (or learn about) the fight for independence in Latin America by making a 20 item timeline. The timeline incorporates political cartoons, news articles, maps, social media posts, news headlines, and academic summaries (each elements has specific requirements outlined in the instructions). A list of topic ideas is included to get students started (including but not limited to Simon Bolivar, Fr. Miguel Hidalgo, Toussaint L'Ouverture, Napoleon Bonaparte, Dom Pedro, Haiti becomes a republic, Augustin d'Iturbide is overthrown, Gran Colombia forms, United Provinces of Central America split, and much more!). A rubric is included but the point values are blank to accommodate your own grading systems. The research and prep work for this would work for a sub! See the preview for a closer look!
