This is a group of 15 Latin “roots”. You can use these task cards in a variety of ways: Matching games, ELA center,s Scoot game, bulletin board (where students can add words having the same root), concentration type game, flashcards etc. (You probably have even better ideas than I can think of at this time:) Roots are an integral part of our vocabulary and the more students understand what the roots themselves mean, the easier it is for them to understand higher level vocabulary. Each set contains a visual clue, definition, root, and application of the root.
The Common Core is putting a lot of emphasis on both Greek and Latin roots, prefixes, and suffixes. Here is my version of some of the Latin roots.

pel—drive or force
tract—drag or pull
