Students will identify the meaning of 8 kid friendly Latin root words through fun and engaging activities. Latin Roots included are: -ped,-ject, -rupt,-struct,-port, -scrib/script, -form, -dict.
What this unit includes:
~4 cute, colorful posters with meaning, picture and examples of each Latin root. (2 pictures per poster)
~ 2 foldable guided-note takers to define and write examples of all 8 Latin root words.
~Latin Word: Flower Art Project:
Cute art project students can complete to define the meaning of a Latin root word and write examples. Completed project page is included. All templates are in black and white.
~ Independent Worksheets:
2 fill in the blank worksheet where students write the meaning of a Latin root that would make that sentence complete.
Students place a word on the parts to whole concept map. Then they write the prefix, Latin root, and suffix to show the parts of the whole word. They will then transfer this information onto the student worksheet. 12 sorting cards are included, student worksheet for room to write all 12 words and cute, colorful concept map.
~Collaborative group project:
Put the eight Latin root words into a hat, box or any other container. Have one student from each group pick a word from the hat.
Students will work as a group to fill out the four corner note-taker on the Latin word chosen. Each student will have a job if you have groups of four. Students can use a dictionary, computer or the posters provided in this unit. Students will present their Latin word poster to the class. As groups present, the rest of the students will fill out their own four corner note-taker.
