This is the first of two lists that have almost 200 cells (prefixes, roots, and suffixes) for each list. I have spent years compiling this list based on the most often used words for the ACT and SAT. I have analyzed the lists of words and selected the cells based on the ones that have shown up on multiple occasions. By introducing the cells a few at a time, and going over the way that they can help define words, students can train their brains to begin to break down and analyze words on their own. I have used this with my own students for many years and have seen progress each year with the students. This can be used with multiple grade levels since the words have been broken down.
This set of words includes definitions of word parts, explanations, and examples of how to use the cells with students. The sample does not show all of the directions used.
