This worksheet accompanies episode 1 of the 6 part series by PBS. I use these videos with my Heritage Spanish students, but could be used for any Spanish class.
The worksheet is in Spanish for use with advanced students, but could easily be translated to English for lower level students.
I have divided the worksheet into three parts:
1. Anticipatory activity: students read four statements related to the video topic and decide if they agree or not. Then predict the topic(s) of the video.
2. Viewing activity: students complete a chart based on people and topics presented during the documentary (e.g. Apolinaria, Treaty of Hidalgo, Las Gorras Blancas, etc)
3. Post-viewing: students revisit the anticipatory statements and make revisions if necessary. Finally, students write a paragraph connecting one of the people presented and the title of this episode "Foreigners in their own land"
Currently, the episodes can be found online: http://www.pbs.org/latino-americans/en/
This is a Word doc that you can edit to fit the needs of your students.
