This follows the Lucy Calkins narrative writing Unit for Kindergarten. I created this to give my Special Education class and English Language Learners a visual. I wanted it to be easy enough that a sub can teach it.
The five sessions include a connection, teaching point, active engagement, turn and talks, link, and share.
The finished product will be three pages of student's writing.
Page 1: ( Where they went) I went_______
Page 2: ( What they did and with who) I________with_______.
Page 3: (How they felt) I felt_______.
Session1: We are all writers: Picking a place that we went.( page 1)
Session 2: Writers know that when they think they are done, they have just begun. Adding details by adding to the picture and labeling.( page 1)
Session 3: Writers add details by writing a second page about WHAT they did at the place they went.
Session 4: Writers add details by writing WHO they were with. (Page 2)
Session 5 : Writers add details by writing how they felt. ( Page 3)
