This activity was created for basic receptive and expressive language therapy and practice for use with diverse groups of Pre-K through 1st grade students or individual speech and language practice.
This packet includes the following:
-Color Picture Scene to support story content: Use this to give students visual support when telling the story. Target basic vocabulary identification, labeling, and attention to story.
-Story text. Target attention to auditory information, reading, topic maintenance.
-Sequencing for student story retell. Target sequencing, story retell, identifying first/last.
-Cut out colored story images for students to sequence using the empty squares as a template.
- Wh- Questions with high contrast picture choices
- Yes/No Questions with picture prompts
- Pronouns: Target understanding and using pronouns (his, her, he, she), expanding utterance length, sentence completion, and labeling nouns. Cut out noun pictures and instruct student to give item to the boy or girl (e.g. “Give to her.”), then have the student move the picture to the correct sentence strip
-Spatial Concepts: Target understanding and use of spatial concepts (in, out, over, under, next to, in front of). Cut out and laminate the shirts. Instruct students place the shirts various places. Cut out the light grey parts of the washer/dryer for students to put clothing “in” the washing machine or dryer. Use the sentence strip and spatial concept cards to practice using spatial concepts in sentences.
-Clothing Sort: Cut out and laminate the clothing . Have students sort the clothing into the appropriate baskets.
