This is an interactive notebooks for a lesson on the law of conservation and the different forms of energy. The handout looks like a booklet! These pictures are not accurate and again, my handout require no cutting. Students simply glue or tape the handout into their notebook! Learning time is not wasted, I promise you!!
My lesson starts out using a science probe (from NSTA) which students brainstorm about how energy transforms. I incorporate ELA by having students analyze the law of conservation and interpret the quote then make an everyday connection. Next I inform students of the 7 forms of energy. This is when I give each table a set of energy cards (this product I am selling). Students then look at energy transformations and then create a diagram of an energy transfer. I usually give students the a light bulb, a battery, and wire. In their notebooks they need to show how energy transfers. The lesson ends with students returning to the Do Now response and seeing if their thoughts on energy has changed.
