Product Description

This resource has everything you need to teach the Quotient of Powers Property. Included you will have guided notes, a worksheet and matching activity, two differentiated scavenger hunts, an entry and exit slip and an assessment. This no-prep, print ready resource will help you with your instruction on the Quotient of Powers Property.

The guided notes fit nicely into a composition notebook. The notes have students explore how to solve two problems involving the quotient of powers property. The middle portion of the notes provides the property. Lastly, students will complete three practice problems and one error analysis problem.

The first page of the worksheet asks students to provide two different ways in order to simplify an expression. As a class, you can discuss how to simplify the expression (expanded form) and the rule that can be applied. Students describe how dividing powers is different from multiplying powers. Students are also provided an opportunity to write three equivalent expressions and to analyze an error analysis problem. The second page asks students to sort sixteen expressions into four groups of four. Students can use four different colored pencils to shade the rectangles that belong together.

This resources also includes two fun, self-checking scavenger hunts. Students will simplify a variety of twelve exponential expressions. The two scavenger hunts have different levels of difficulty which can be used to differentiate. Students must find the correct answer in order to move on to the next problem. The self-checking practice helps them monitor their level of understanding with the Quotient of Powers Property.

Lastly, the resource includes two quick checks (entry and exit slips) and a ten question assessment.
